SBP not improving website’s performance?

    Hi, this is a beginner’s question. I installed SBP and immediately saw an improvement in PageSpeed performance. Then I changed some options, worked on some pages and turned on SBP again, with the same settings. Yet, now I do not see the improvement any more. I cleared cache and tried again, but no change. What might be the cause? Thank you for your help!

    Hi @orpheus55,

    Performance optimization is an ongoing process so you need to reconfigure SBP (and any other perf. opt. plugin, really) every time you make important changes to your website. It usually goes like this:

    – Test performance
    – Optimize performance
    – Make changes whenever
    – Test again
    – Optimize again
    – Make more changes whenever
    – Test again
    – …

    Let’s say you generated critical CSS rules for your front page and it improved your front page performance. Then you changed the design of the front page, for example added a new section, replace the hero background, changed some icons’ sizes… When you’re finished, the critical CSS rules need to be generated again. And more reconfugiration might be needed after each change because there are a ton of factors which impact performance – and unfortunately we can’t possibly list them all, or make the confugiration fully automatic.
