I recently updated the free version of the Yoast plugin.

Then I made some changes to my homepage meta description. Once done Yoast alerted me that “You just changed the URL of this Page. To ensure your visitors do not see a 404 on the old URL, you should create a redirect.” But I didn’t change the URL. Only the meta description.

I’m guessing this message was an error. My site still loads at the same URL. But for Yoast to make an error is shocking. What is up?

Plus, like others here in support, my site is loading slower since this update.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,
The Yoast plugin should not recommend a redirect on a meta description change. That sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:
    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.

If there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.
If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

Same issue. I only changed the description and I got 2 URL changed notices from Yoast at the top of the page (stacked on top of each other).

    Hi @gavin310 and @jmetro

If either of you are premium members we ask that you please send us a support ticket at [email protected]. We can better service your issue there. When email us please describe the issue and provide links and screenshots.

If you are not a premium member we ask that you please try the steps below to troubleshoot:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
?2. Check for conflicts using this guide: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts?

If there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/ for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums.
