    WP 5.9.1
    Twenty Twenty-Two v1.1

I’m trying to edit the header that I created in Twenty Twenty-Two theme. I’m using the new “edit site” page. When I hit save I get an error “Saving failed.”

I’ve not changed any settings for the site. The only thing I can think of is that the WP automatically updated to v5.9.1. Previously I could save changes to the template.

I disabled all plugins and purged all caches and still have the same issue. I emptied browser cache. I tried this in Safari and Firefox and still have the same issue.

I am able to save posts, pages, categories etc.

I turned on debug to see if I could spot any errors as I do this. Unfortunately the edit page does not load for me in debug mode for some reason.

Many thanks in advance for help in troubleshooting this.

Tried but couldn’t reproduce the error you are getting. Did you add or remove any blocks?
I tried this editing the header on a small theme I created and still couldn’t reproduce it.

have you check to see if you can create another header in template parts to see if you get the same error. Will it let you save if you don’t make any changes? I’ve created several different headers but haven’t received any errors.

It might be a problem with a block and not the header.

Thanks for trying to recreate the error.

I tried to create a new header in template parts but get the same error when I attempt to save. Strange thing is that the new one I created exists even though any savee (ie after I add anything to it) does not register.

Also when I try and edit any of the other parts I get this error.

I noticed that I’m unable to save any of the blocks in “edit site” page. I have three (header, main section and footer).

Save button is not clickable if I don’t make any changes.

I’m wondering if it is worth applying a new theme, removing 2022 and reinstalling? The site is not especially complex so will not take long to recreate – you can see it here https://billgriffin.co

I’m just trying to add a new item to the menu in the header.

When you create new templates and template parts they are saved in the database, not in a file. The original template and template parts are the only ones you will find in the file. New templates are saved in the post and post-meta database as custom post types. If it is not being saved something has to be blocking your database from updating the information in the post table. Try to deactivate your plugins and see if it helps.

I don’t know if you’re using GoDaddy as your hosting platform, but I’m having a similar issue and I’ve noticed their website firewall (using the basic Managed WordPress package) is blocking POST API calls referencing the theme I’m trying to update. Yesterday, it blocked me too many times and temporarily banned me from my own site.

Allowing the IP address on the firewall enabled me to save template updates again.
