Saves json data as custom post type?

I am wondering if this plugin can save json data as a custom post type. I am confused because it sounds like it can connect to another WordPress site and pull that data into a separate WordPress site. What I am looking for is something that I will supply an APU URL like example.com/product and it can pull that data in and save it as a custom post type and then update when the data at the other end of the URL changes.
The other end is not WordPress and just a json API. Does this plugin support that kind of use case or is it just WordPress -> WordPress? Thanks.
