  • Hi – I am just a user but I do know you can purchase an add-on called “venues” which does exactly this! Details are on the Timely website.

    Thanks for the info.
Though this module seems to do much more than that, and even if I’m not against paying for modules, I don’t feel like paying a yearly fee for that. A one time purchase is fine, not a yearly fee…

I guess we all need to keep in mind that Timely continuously maintain the module – adapting it if for example WordPress itself changes, which it does on quite a regular basis (needing a software response)? It also has to stay in line with the developments in the main product itself etc etc. I can see why they need to make it an annual fee – otherwise your once off purchase won’t necessarily work for that long, as a product without ongoing maintenance and development is not going to help anyone really? As you know, the WordPress “world” does not stand still and is made up of a huge number of ever changing variables, therefore the Timely Events context is always changing in ways which are beyond Timely’s control.

Maybe, but a lot of extensions do not work like that. There are extensions, of course, that have free updates forever, other extensions that have free automatic updates forever, and one year automatic updates, and other extensions that have just one year free updates, and after that you have to pay to get an update, or just keep the extension as it is, as long as it works.

And I prefer that, I mean, I prefer having the choice to keep the extension in its current state, as long as it works, and if one day it will not work anymore, I’ll buy the new version (it could be in one year, but it could also be in five years). I can’t tell my direction that I need to buy a 60$ annual fee just to avoid having to enter the location each time.

Note that modules have an annual fee, but the extension itself does not, and is free forever it seems. I’ll then just keep the extension, and will enter the locations each time…
