[sanitize_inputs] Non-breaking Spaces get stripped out

Is there anyway I can edit the plugin so that will remain intact?
I would like to use:
C diff => <span class=’c-diff’>C diff</span>
C diff => <span class=’c-diff’>C diff</span>in the filter.
