• Hello,

I’m fairly new to WP and have a question. I have a self hosted WP.org site that I have not worked on yet because I am new to WP. So, I installed Desktop Server on my computer so I can work on my e-commerce site in a sandbox environment as I learn. Once I have everything exactly as I want it on my desktop WP Site, is there an easy way to transfer the site to online hosted one?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    JD

Do you have the free or paid version of Desktop Server? If you have the paid version, there is a very handy feature that allows you to deploy to the live site.

If you have the free version, you may want to take a look at this guide for moving WordPress:

Thank you, Geoffrey. I have the free version of Desktop Server. I saw the feature you are referring to in the $99 version. I’m not a developer, so I don’t want to pay just for the one deployment feature. I will review the link you provided. I’m still quite away from making the move to live, but wanted to know if there is this possibility. Thank you once again!

You’re welcome! I completely understand not wanting to pay that much when you are developing multiple sites; I just wanted to make sure you didn’t have it. It’s fairly straight-forward moving a site if you use that guide. When you get to that point, feel free to ask any specific questions you may come across.
