I’ve been working with a client to test card payments using PayPal Sandbox with dummy cards. When I do it myself from my end (I’ve tried different networks/IPs; I’ve tried using the credit card info provided in the Sandbox account as well as others from the Credit Card Generator; I’ve tried while logged in or as a guest in Incognito…etc) and it always works perfectly. However, whenever my client tries on his end (he’s tried w/ various dummy card info, different computers, etc) he repeatedly gets the error “We’re sorry, but we weren’t able to add this card. Try again later or add a different card”.

I’ve been unable to replicate the error on my end – the transaction always goes through. I’ve even had him provide me the exact info he’s putting into all fields for checkout and used those exact details myself without issue.

Continued troubleshooting (including using debug mode and diving into the logs) continues to get me nowhere. Curious if anyone else has run into a situation like this or has any insight into why he’s seeing this error and I’m not.

Thanks in advance for any insights and assistance!

    Hello @embermethod

thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

The only cause I can think of in this situation is that your client his IP is causing PayPal to trigger the fraud detection and block the usage of the card. Your client might want to try to use a VPN to test this and see if that works for him.

If you want, I can try similar tests on our side using VPN and try the same location and card details in my testing environment. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing those details on a public forum, please open a ticket with our service desk. You can find the instruction for this here: https://paypal.inpsyde.com/docs/request-support/
(please add the URL of this thread in the ticket as well)

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Thanks for your input! I had him try this via several other IPs and he continued to have the same issue, until he tried using Microsoft Edge and then it worked… so seemed to be something weird related to Chrome regardless of his different computers and IP connections. Rather odd – we had several other people try from their respective computers/networks and they were all able to successfully complete a transaction so it seems like an isolated issue to this one person only when he uses chrome.

    Hello @embermethod

yes, that is in line with what we were expecting. It does not even have to be just the browser, it can be a mix of IP, browser, OS, etc. Thanks for letting us know.

Since this is not a plugin issue, I will mark it as resolved. If you believe we should take a closer look at this (or any other) issue, please open a new thread or a ticket with our support desk.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
