    Hello:

I’ve just taken over a website that a former developer left half finished. It has a Woocommerce installation and a blog, and I have to set it up for a non-technical user to handle both the orders and to update the blog.

My question is: can I create one WordPress user to fulfill both these roles? If I create an user and assign it as shop manager, can that user write in the blog too? (Having two separate users for these roles would be too complicated for my client).

    Thanks.

  • You can give additional capabilities to a role. There is the excellent User Role Editor plugin you can use to do this.

However, I think it would be more straightforward to assign two roles to the one user. See:

and others similar if you don’t get on with that.

Thanks. After I posted my question, I did additional homework :-), and I found out that Woocommerce’s shop manager has basically the same capabilities than an editor, plus the ability to manage the store. So I’ll just turn my client into a shop manager and he’ll be able to post in the blog as well.

The plugins you linked are interesting, though; thanks for the pointers. I’ll keep them in mind next time I find myself in a similar situation.
