Same Product each with Unique design Reviews disappear

A client has a product they make and even though it is the same product the finished look is different fro each one, making each a one-off variation. With their current eCommerce software they need to create a new product for each item so clients can purchase the one they like. When the item is sold the product is removed from the store.
Many purchasers leave glowing reviews but because the one-off product variation is removed the review vanishes with it.
Is there a way to have a unique product variation (showing the unique image of the product) that someone can select and purchase then if they leave a review it is attached to the product, not that one-off variation.
