I have the free version of SEO Redirection Plugin installed on WP3.9. On all existing or new pages’ and posts’ edit or add screens the link in the SEO Redirection box is always the same: it never picks up the link of the page I’m working on. Instead. it always displays the *same* page link to redirect whether I’m on a new page or new post, or an existing page (I’m not using posts on the site, only pages).

Is there a fix for this?

  • Hi,

you mean you want to choose if the box only appears on pages and not posts, or there is a problem in redirection box? anyway there is an option from control panel to remove this box, you can in this case use custom post redirection to redirect any thing, just copy the URL and Add it there.

    Regards.

What I was trying to say is that the SEO Redirection boxes that appear on pages and posts (both editing and adding) all have the same link in them to link from, regardless of the actual page/post permalink. I would have thought that the plugin would pick up the current page’s or post’s permalink and would display that as the “link from”, but that’s not happening.

    hi Susan,

You can help if let me know what Permalink structure do you use, or simply the URL of your site.

The permalink structure is just “/%postname%/”.

    Here are three screen captures:

    1) From an existing page, but not the one in the redirection box: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1377596/existing-page.jpg
All existing pages (86 of them) all display this same link in the redirection box.

    2) From a new page that has no title or permalink yet: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1377596/new-page.jpg
If I create a new page so that it has a permalink and save it, the seo redirection box link stays the same as in the screenshot

    3) And from a new post that has no title or permalink yet:

Creating a new post has the same results as creating a new page– the link doesn’t change.

Ok, I will follow up the issue and solve it for you, I will tell you here when I fix this.

    thanks a lot Susan.

I’ve updated the current version to fix the issue, you can delete the plugin and reinstall the current version.

I’ve made another update if you want to try it.

I deleted the old plugin version and installed the new version, making sure the redirection data was preserved. And the “frozen” link in the seo redirection box is still “frozen”. So I installed the latest version on another WP site and the seo redirection box link works fine. Very strange.

So it seems to me that there’s something wrong in the first site’s database, perhaps in the seo_redirection table, or there’s another plugin that’s causing the problem. Is there a place in the database where the seo redirection box link is stored, or is that part of the main redirection table? As for plugins, I don’t have that many installed on the site, and the ones that are installed are necessary for the site to function.

Just installed v2.2, but no joy. The frozen link is still there.

I’m sorry for that ?? may be there is something that affect the plugin functions.

Thanks a lot for you, if I discovered the problem and solved it, I will tell you here.

I have a localhost version of the site that has all the plugins I used on the live site plus others I was testing. I had never installed SEO Redirection on that localhost site, so I was hoping that if I installed it I might get the same results as when I installed on another live WP site and the redirection box text worked.

So I installed it, and the frozen link is still there, just with the localhost address, but with the same *page* link as the frozen live site link. How could that be? Then I noticed that I have All In One SEO installed and that the page that All In One uses as a preview example is the same page link that’s frozen in the SEO Redirection box. From what I can tell, All In One just chooses a random page for the preview because the preview is the same for all pages. Or perhaps not– perhaps All In One *should* be changing its preview to match the page being edited, but it’s not. I don’t know.

Thinking that the problem might be with All In One, I deactivated and uninstalled that plugin, deactivated and uninstalled SEO Redirection (including the data), logged out, closed my browser, and shut down my localhost server (Xampp)to make sure nothing was cached. Then I restarted everything and reinstalled SEO Redirection. When I got back to the WP pages I discovered that the frozen link was still there.

So why would both All In One and SEO Redirection be pointing to the same page– All In One for it’s preview and SEO Redirection for the box?

    Hi,

If the same problem appeared also in “All In One SEO”,I think there is something wrong in the WordPress installation, I prefer not to use the redirection box and disable it from plugin control panel, you can redirect any post by coping it’s URL and then use Custom Redirection tab.

    Thanks a lot Susan.
