• I’m using a child theme with Twentyseventeen. I have a member area and a public area and I’d like to use the built-in gallery function if possible but I’d like different captions for members and the public. Is this doable? Is there a function I can override in my theme or something I can add?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,
You can use you media gallery. Just click on the each image you want to change the caption. When you click on the image, you will get option to change caption in the right side.
Hope it will solve your issue.
    Thanks.

Unless I’m misunderstanding you, that means changing the caption permanently in the media library. That’s what I see when I edit in the gallery.
What I’m after is a page that’s public that shows the public caption and another that’s for members only that shows the same images but with each having a caption with more information.
I can add a field, I presume, to store the additional information but then how do I display the additional information in the caption?

If you want two caption for only member and public then you have to add new field to do this or contact to your theme developer.
