safe way to delete spam in db tables?

  • Hi, can someone tell me a safe way to mass delete spam comments on the db tables.

    I have three old weblogs (pre 2.0) that had lots of spam comments. I eventually took them offline because I couldn’t manage them (especially the spam).

    In these cases, the spam protection I used did not work for some reason. I want to delete them, upgrade to 2.1 and use akismet (which I’ve generally been happy with).

    Can someone help?
