    Hello,
I understand Safari doesn’t support WebP however since using this plugin some images on my website are broken.
The URL is correct and will load the image in Chrome and Firefox but in Safari it just downloads the image but then the image can’t be opened.
Does this plugin do anything to the existing JPGs or does it duplicate the image to create the WebP version? It just appears to have had some kind of impact on some existing JPGs.

I have tried deactivating plugins and reverting to a default WordPress theme but it hasn’t resolved the issue.

    Thanks,

    Jo

Hi @mateuszgbiorczyk, apologies for the delay replying, I didn’t see the notification for your reply strangely.

Understand your point, it is a bit of a rare failure of the redirects as I don’t think many users flip between Chrome/Firefox and Safari, it’s probably only really us developers who do that while building & testing so hopefully it’s not something that will cause issues for users.

The big shame here is that there isn’t a standardised format yet, hopefully Safari will adopt WebP but I’m not sure where they stand with that considering it was developed by Google.

I’ve submitted a suggestion using their feedback form, anyone wanting to do the same, here’s the link:

@joshaw I have same issue, is there a workaround?

I think disabling Webp Converter plugin would be the only workaround to this issue?

    Hi @joshaw @mateuszgbiorczyk

What is the actual solution ….which trick can be helpful for me to get rid of this and make the website compatible with both browsers.
Note: I am not using any plugin but I have uploaded pictures in Webp format
