Safari asks for log in

    Hello there,

    I just installed Slideshow and this is my first time using it.

    After adding a slideshow to my homepage I see that Safari is asking for log in to my ip server’s ip address on port 80

    This doesn’t happen on Chrome.

    When I deactivate the Slideshow plugin it opens nicely but without a slideshow of course.

    If I click on login to continue it’s just okay, site gets loaded and shown. But asking a log in with a popup is just annoying..

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hello,

    Yes I have added /works as the url link. I tried removing it but nothing changed.

    Hi there must be some other plugin that triggers that in Safari. This is the first time I here of this with this plugin. Have you tried to deactivate all plugins except this one and carried out another test in Safari?

    Deactivated every plugin except Slideshow and still doing it.

    I am using Safari for Mac and I tried it with another Mac Safari too.

    I just tried a different browser and it is also asking me to login? There some settings on your website that is requesting this.

    Actually it started with activating the plugin. If I deactivate it, doesn’t ask it anymore.

    Sorted out!

    My server (DigitalOcean) had different apache settings for security reasons I guess.

    Needed to edit DirectoryMatch in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

    Why safari or why this specific plugin, I have no idea.

    Hi liger I am happy to hear this. Well done that is why I found this to be a bit odd since this is the first time that I came across this issue here. Do you know exactly what you edited in that file. I just of asking just in case anyone else comes across this issue in the future.

    This section was removed from apache2.conf

    <DirectoryMatch ^.*/wp-admin/>
    AuthType Basic
    AuthName “Please login to your droplet via SSH for login details.”
    AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/.htpasswd
    Require valid-user
    </DirectoryMatch>

    after removing it apache should be restarted to take affect.

    Thank you liger for sharing and yes I can see why the message to login appeared although it was random and not constant.
