S2 plugin, registration confirmation…
-
ok, I got the plugin to send notifications of posts. I do get notifications of new users, but they do not receive the email template that they had been signed up to my blog. Is it in the auto-subscribe section of the settings that needs to change? I tried automatic, display and no.
-
I just want to know it’s working because when i subscribed with an email address i have access to, i only got the username and password, not an email saying that i was subscribed to the blog.
Does it matter if that address was already subscribed? i deleted that user from my admin panel before subscribing again. Isn’t it suppossed to say if it’s confirmed, uncomfirmed or to delete email address(es) in my tools<subscribers menu of my dashboard and i manage it from there?
If you are testing then just try it again – and yes, you’ll need to make sure that the email address is not already a public or registered subscriber.
End user is it. I tried to just subscribe from tool<subscribers of my dashboard but haven’t received the confirmation or anything else yet.
When you subscribe from there the user email is immediately added as a confirmed public subscriber and no email is sent. Use the form if you want to test the confirmation emails.
Now that you have added a user like that, use the form to unsubscribe them – it’s the exact same process but for unsubscriptions rather than subscriptions.
I did the unsubscribe process and it came up that the address was not in the database, so I deleted the user. I tried using three ways to subscribe. I tried right off my website, the widget on my blog and through dashboard and none of them produced an email.
As I said above, from Dashboard won’t generate an email, so no surprise there.
Also, did you read the message on the screen each time you tried. If you used Dashboard first the message you’d have got was that you were already subscribed and no email gets sent.
What’s the address of your site? I’ll check it myself because you are not really giving me anything to work with to help you.
I’m sorry and thank you.
When I put my email into the form deployed via the widget on your front page I get an error message:
“Sorry, there seems to be an error on the server. Please try again later.”
This message is displayed if the email process reports a failure – i.e. the email could not be sent.
This may be because you are sending the emails from a generic blog email address:
From your settings above:
Send Email From: brainjured.com Blogchange this setting to an admin level user on your blog. This account should have an email address on your domain that actually exists, so something like [email protected] or [email protected].
I suspect this is the reason why you are getting these emails problems.
That is to my admin address.
Okay, if you have a User with that name and an email address as I’ve described above then the problem is with the host somewhere.
They are blocking the email from being sent because it does not meet their email policy for some reason. The things I’ve suggested above are the most common reasons why you may not be meeting their policy and are fixes.
You are telling me that these solutions are all already in place so now you need to ask your hosting provider why these emails are being blocked and what you must do to meet their policy so that emails are sent.
I called Yahoo and they told me that a descriptive error can be found in my script.log file and that maybe that could help determine the email problem. I changed the setting to ‘post author’ because my blog email address posts to my blog. In fact, before I upgraded to 3.1.2 HTML, I had ‘Administrator’ on my ‘send email as:’ drop down, I just remembered.
Try changing to back to ‘Administrator’ if that fails then you need to look in that log file and tell me what it says.

Ah, this is the ‘Yahoo’ problem. Yahoo somehow block the tables being made correctly so nothing works correctly until the tables are fixed.
You need to run this SQL statement in PHPMyAdmin:
ALTER TABLE wp_subscribe2 ADD ip char(64) DEFAULT ‘admin’ NOT NULL AFTER date
ok, done. It works now, thank you very much. I did have to change my php/perl mail address to a valid address though. my confirmations are now being sent. Thank you for your time, it was greatly appreciated.
