• On a recent post, the sharing button lists over 240 shares, but the number of visitors is only slightly more than that (274). If there really were 240 shares on facebook would there not be a visitor count several times higher than that? It doesn’t make sense that 240/274 visitors would have shared on facebook. This number must be inflated. Is the button broken? How can I tell if the number of views is wrong or if it is the number of shares that is miscounted? I thought maybe the share button was counting every click as a share, but I tested this out and when I clicked and did not share, the count did not increase.

I have a pretty recent version of WP, but was not able to find that information in my account. If it is needed please let me know how to find it and I will reply with the version.

  • Hi
You can use this tool to see your actual counts https://www.sharedcount.com/ and it shows you have 400 FB share counts, this includes comments and reactions too hence even though your visits are 270 but share shows more as it is just not simple fb share but likes/reactions/comments that post got.

Hope that helps answer your questions.

    Please mark this as resolved.
