Russian Spam Classiffieds

  • HELP!

    Hi, since yesterday we have been getting a bunch of spam classifieds in russian, the weird thing is that they get automatically approved, Meaning they dont go through the normal procedure: from Pending to Approved.Another thing is that they dont have any author.

    And we have to remove them manually

    They dont stop, there is anew one every 2 minutos or so…

  • Same thing is happening to me at this very second and this is a big site with high traffic… host has completely blocked us. This is VERY bad

    i am not sure what do you mean by “host has completely blocked us”? If they disabled your website due to a large amount of traffic then you will need some kind of website firewall like Sucuri.net, no plugin (as far as I know) will prevent the traffic itself.

    As for the spam submissions, some of the methods that will help you prevent the spam are described here https://wpadverts.com/doc/spam-submissions/ 2 of them are enabled by default (although you can fine-tune them to your needs) additional you can enable as you see fit.

    Additionally, you can install the reCAPTCHA integration and/or make the [adverts_add] page available to logged-in users only.

    Note. that a common problem is that the user has on-site an additional page with the [adverts_add] shortcode that is completely unprotected, so while main [adverts_add] is secured the spammers are able to find a submit spam via the other page.
