Russian characters and Search bugs

    Hello!
    I have a several problems with russian characters in your plugin.

    1) If a product’s description field has more than 118 russian characters, script can’t to load this item on the catalogue page or even a whole page with items which contain this item, especially if you use filters by categories or tags. *I spent some hours to find a cause of a problem and a half day to change descriptions of items in my catalogue ??
    I think that script recognize russian characters as a special characters and trimming it to 118. I tried to find this line in original scripts but couldn’t.
    Please, give me a script that allows me to use unlimited number of russian characters in product’s description.

    2) The next bug with russian characters “hides” when you search the items on the sidebar (search field) of catalogue page. There is no problem with insensitive case of english characters. But if the name of product item has a first upper russian character, for example, “Машина” and you typing “машина”, script couldn’t match these words. In English there is no problems with it.

    I would be appreciate if you give me a block of code to insert in the templates for fixing these problems.

    I tried to use “ucfirst()” instead “strtolower()” but it didn’t help. I think that there is a still a problem of recognizing russian symbols by a script.

    Hi Tesl,

    Can you try switching to mb_strtolower instead of just strtolower? Apparently it works more often for non-latin languages.

    For the description length, have you tried increasing the character count on the “Options” tab?

    I am ashamed that I missed a number of characters in options tab.
    And mb_strtolower fixed my problem.
