• Hi

I have currently set up a standalone wordpress blog on our Intranet, but there are have been numerous new requests for furrther blogs to be created.

What is the best approach to achieve this rather than installing multiple instances of MYSQL and WordPress for each blog that needs created which will put the server under some strain!

Would WordPress MU be the best approach, and are there any minumum server spec requirements for hosting multiple wordpress blogs i.e 10-20 blogs?

  • ok, for starters, why are you handling this?

… installing multiple instances of MYSQL

why are you handling this again?

One instance of MySQL is fine — for one instance of WP or 50.

    Moving on..

Would WordPress MU be the best approach …

    Yes, please go there

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply…

So is this correct, I will only need to install one instance of MySQL? how will it know which blog is which in the db?

Then I have the following options

    1.) Install WordPress MU

    Or

2.) Install multiple instances of WordPress

how will it know which blog is which in the db?

Read the directions for installing and using wordpress and you learn this.
