• Hi there and merry christmas :D,
I have just packaged a new version of rumgallery, with a more “correct” integration into wp-admin, easier installation, settings edited in the backend, and alot of bugfixes.
    Find instructions and more here.
Example galleries can be found here.
Feel free to give any ideas or other kind of feedback.

  • I like the integration feature – haven’t seen this in other gallery programs – cool
I would like to know whether you can you spread thumbnails across several linked pages?
    i.e.:
24 thumbnails – 6 per page – spread over 4 pages – and linked at the bottom of the page as follows:
    1, 2, 3, 4 … next page

Good idea, havent thought of that, I will implement that…. Ill post back when it’s downloadable ??

im curious, this latest version, is not compatable with 1.2.1 right, just 1.2.2?

Sorry, its being developed for 1.3+ (1.5alpha at my own site) The plugin model is alot better in the coming version.
But i have released a hack for WP1.2 (havent tried 1.2.2, but it works for 1.2.1, but its not the easiest hack to install).

Looks very good!!! Great rabbitphoto’s! I wonder if my cat is such a good model.
I haven’t installed it yet (have to upgrade first), but when you add new images to a directory, are the ‘pages’ updated as well? And with the latest images in front, on the first page? That would make it a very nice photoalbum indeed!
Would it be possible to get some kind of comment underneath the larger images as well? I see that it now uses the filename and size, but perhaps jpeg-comments?

    Hi Moxie,
The pages are of course updated, but the pictures are sorted alphabetically right now, maybe I should have som sort of setting to change the “sort order”.
What do you mean about comment? Right know you can write a description to each picture, see it in action here

Like I said, I haven’t installed it yet, but looking at the example behind the link you gave, it says:
    Dimensions: 400 x 300
    Filesize: 21.3 kb
    Filename: paging.jpg
Is this what you mean with description? Can it be changed into a title or short description? Like: Location: Amsterdam – Subject: Cat on a hot tin roof (I mean “Rabbit on a hot tin roof” ?? ).
And yes, ‘sort order’ would be great, because when you divide 50 images over 5 pages, ten images per page, someone interested in certain photographs would only have to look at the first page (and even the first image => the one in the gallerylisting would be the latest image) to see if some new images have been added since his of her last visit.
Sort-order + decription would make it ideal for how I would like to display my photographs.
Do the directories with images have to be inside the wp-content directory (just took a peek at the sourcecode), or can they also be placed in another directory?

    (@rummanddan)

Right now i have it all placed in the wp-content folder to make installation easier.
But i could see it having a setting that the gallery root was somewhere else.
I see your point about the order – the description is allready possible.

I’m free next week, so then I’ll upgrade to 1.5 and install your plugin to give you better feedback. It sounds perfect!
A different place for the gallery root would be nice (together with the order) because now I have all of my contents in site/weblog/archives/200412/ etc., and backing up my site content makes it easier when all of the pictures also are in let’s say site/weblog/rumgallery/ or site/gallery/. My wordpress folder is in site/wordpress/ and I would like to keep these seperated for three reasons: first it makes a future upgrade easier, secondly I won’t delete files by mistake that are inside the wordpress folder that belong to the content, and third I want to make my site compatible for when wordpress is equiped with the possibility of multiple blogs from one installation.
I’m really looking forward to using your plugin. I couldn’t decide yet to which photoblog plugin to use with wordpress untill now :).

Im happy you like it moxie, nice to see the software you develop actually being used…

I’ll make a solution for the sort order and gallery root setting in this coming weekend (after new years). ??

Wow, this is pretty cool…. keep up the good work dude ??

    (@rummanddan)

Thx hackintox I will do that. ??

Some really awesome work there RummandDan, I am just wondering if somehow you could have a date and a comment section on the individual pictures. Something like when it was last modified (or taken), and description of what the picture is would make the plugin even better.

    Thread Starter rummanddan

    (@rummanddan)

Ill take that into mind for the next release basketball. ??

Last modified is surely gonna be implemented (haev to use it for the sort order earlier discussed in this topic).

    The description is allready possible.

The comments i have to figure a good way to do (this is aiming for not using any database queries at all, so i dont know yet if that will be in the next release.)
