    Problem has been temporarily solved by removing some of the social media options. I now only have facebook, pininterest and twitter left but this removes all the admin-ajax queries and returns the site speed back to below 3 seconds. Can you please look into why some of the social media links are generating so many calls.

    If possible I would like to use all of the options.

    Narrowed the problem down further. appears to be the google+ link.

    Having google+ in the lineup add a whopping 4 seconds onto my speed and adds a total of 4-5 extra admin-ajax calls.

    Google+ share counts cannot be fetched from client side. So we need to make wp-ajax call to server-side PHP codes which further fetches counts.

    It shouldn’t take 4 seconds unless you have a very slow server.

    May I know if you are using shared hosting?
