“RSVP within a post so that site visitors can indicate whether they are coming”

    Hello,

I saw it in a reply about the RSVP utility … and I have to say (again?) You miss the goal of RSVP function:

RSVP comes from a French expression meaning: Answer please (if you attend or not)

In this plugin is ok if you do not sell tickets.

But it is not suitable if you sell tickets and want to use RSVP to ensure that buyers will attend the event, for example, for not being a vacuum because no one that day.

    1) the RSVP code does not verify that the user has already bought a ticket making it eligible for this event.

It could be very “simple” request the ID of the ticket purchased to control this.

    2) A spammer can completely block your system if RSVP is open access … because there is no control that the user is allowed to use.

I have thought about using the “Advanced Access Manager” plugin to restrict access to RSVP only to users connected and having a role allowed for a category of the corresponding event ticket purchased but:

    3) you can not limit the use of RSVP to one per user

    4) You can use RSVP as many times as you want until stock last.

    4) the ticket is called “free”

    5) if your event is recurring a user can use RSVP for all events as often as he wants.

Therefore RSVP must be improved to become useful for pro use.

  • Hey onirgoc,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I believe I have good news for you.

First of all, it turns out I am actually French ??
To your point, based on the meaning of an RSVP system, the focus is all on confirmation, not ticket sales.

If your main goal is to sell tickets, you’ll find that one of our other plugins (that extends this one) is much more powerful and is completely focused on ticket sales. It also offers a lot of control and integration: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-event-tickets-plus/

    1) Actually, there is an attendee list option for that very purpose so that you can check-in and even do that using a QR code reader. Just hover over the Event title in Events -> Events

    2) Good point, but you could probably add a third-party plugin to prevent spamming.

You can also restrict access using a plugin such as members https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/frontend-roles-and-permissions/

    3) That’s true. If that’s a concern you should consider our other plugin.

    4) That’s true. If that’s a concern you should consider our other plugin.

    4) You can hide that label with CSS or you can add the price field to the plugin: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/use-the-event-cost-field-with-tickets-installed/

    5) Good point, enhanced ticket integration for recurring events is on our roadmap.

    Cheers,
    Geoff B.
