Using WP 2.9.2 and the standard RSS widget in several places on our web site’s footer and sidebar. It’s very, very slow to update, meaning hours after any feed content is updated, the RSS widget catches up. However, when I click on the feed icon I can view the updated feed. All of these are from feedburner, so I can easily see them there. I’ve “troubleshootized” all these feeds at feedburner, resynced them, even pinged the feedburner server to manually update the feeds.

But yet our site’s RSS widget remains far behind the actual feed data.

    Help?

That’ll make it look good, but doesn’t solve the problem of why the RSS feed data doesn’t update on my web site.

I’m using it and it updates feeds nearly immediately – like from topics here for example

    Will give it a whirl.

Unless I’m missing something, I cannot reuse this widget on different locations on my site. When I try to put a different RSS feed into this widget on a different location on my site, I get the same RSS feed that I used in the first location. I have 5 RSS feeds in the footer/sidebar of my site. Obviously, each one is different. When I implement KB-advanced, I get the same feed in every widget, despite the fact that I have entered a different feed URL in each one.

I’m no coder, nor HTML guru. SO, like I said, unless I’m missing something…

Also, again consider I’m no coder/html guy, WP default RSS widget gives mouseover content to these RSS feed headlines. KB-advanced does not seem to do this.

OK, fixed the issue of reuse. I really love the title display of this widget vs. the default WP widget, and, yes, it actually updates the content from the feed. What a concept. Scroll down to the footer of this page to see the various widgets:

    https://www.cwnp.com/index/

    Questions:
    – How do we show a short excerpt, author, date from each feed?
    – some show mouse-over texts, some do not. Is that a function of the RSS feed XML or code in the widget?
    – Lower left RSS – “Blogroll” – the title runs right into the blog name with no space. It did not appear this way with default RSS widget. How to fix?

Brilliant. Now all 5 RSS feeds have somehow adopted one feed, so I have 5 different locations of the exact same feed. WTH?

So much for nicer looking feeds that actually update…correctly!

Bye bye kb-advanced-rss-widget. Why is this so hard? RSS=really SIMPLE syndication, right?

So I replace all the kb garbage with the WP standard RSS feeds, and it actually goes BACK to content from yesterday, yet I can still open the actual RSS feed and see up to date content.

    HELP!

Also tried Simple RSS Fetcher. No joy.

There is something amiss between my site and the RSS feeds I am trying to display.

Still having problems with RSS feeds not updating. Whether I use the raw feed from our web site or the feedburner feed, the result is the same.

I can click the little rss feed icon and see more updated information than is shown in the publicly viewable feed for both. very frustrating.

Unfortunately, when I try other rss widgets from WP, I get very strange results:

    – The KB Advanced RSS Widget caused all 5 RSS feeds on our home page to pull from the same feed.
    – the Simple RSS Fetcher just doesn’t see any feed at all.

Does anyone else have this issue? You can see it for yourself at https://www.cwnp.com – click on any of the feeds, and you’ll see newer data than you see on the web page.

    Help? Anyone? Anyone?

Hi Kevinator, feel free to check this link and install FD feedburner, i hope this will help ??

    Thanks Kim09. We’ll give it a try.

You are very welcome kevinator:) let me know if it works or not

I am new to WordPress and, for that matter, having a website. I added a WordPress site (https://www.garycjohnsonlaw.com/Wordpress) using my cpanel (my site is hosted by BlueHost) and added a “Subscribe” widget. I have gotten several messages that people cannot subscribe. I then linked my site to feedburner (https://feeds.feedburner.com/garycjohnsonlaw/LwFh) and asked people to try again. They can subscribe to the feedburner site but still not to my site. Is this a problem with self-hosting WordPress?

I am also new to WordPress forums. Is there a way you can email me any hints?

    Thanks in advance.
