The RSS feed validator reported that my title was blank. Not sure when it went away, but I realized it was blank on the feed page as well, although the tag line still displayed. I checked all my settings and cleared all caches, disabled plugins and such and nothing fixed the title. I finally manually edited wp-includes/feed-rss2.php and replaced <?php wp_title_rss(); ?> with my title and that temporarily fixed the problem. I checked another site I maintain and it has the same problem. Anyone else experiencing this?

As the adage goes, don’t modify core files. Modifications can cause security risks, performance degradation, broken plugins/themes, you will lose all changes when you next update the WordPress, etc.

    Instead, try:
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue
resetting the plugins folder by FTP.

I switched to Twenty Sixteen and the title came back. Strange that it is a theme problem but I’m glad it’s not WordPress core…
