• Hi there,

I have just installed wordpress on my machine and already testing it. I would like to migrate my web to wordpress 3.5.1. and one of the main requirements I need is Rss items (content, description and title mainly) to be searchable/retrievable by the default or any other advanced search plugin.

I have a certain number of remote (xml files not in my server) rss urls that I display on the website and I need that content to be searchable/retrievable.

So far, it does not retrieve rss content. Any light about this?
Please help, this kind of features would help me to decide what cms to choose.

    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

  • I don’t know of any advanced search plugin that would search content being pulled from other sites using RSS.

I am currently managing my website with another CMS and to make it work, there was a need to write some lines in the controller.php file, but I don’t know how it could work in a wordpress scenario

As far as I am aware, it can’t. All of the search plugins effectively search the WP site database – not any files or other sites. You’d need to write your on custom plugin for this.

Do you mean that there is no wordpress website out there whose default search facility does not retrieve content from RSS feeds? To be honest I think there must be a solution for this and there must be thousand of users who had to deal with this before, but unfortunately I have not found information about this.
