rss icon/link next to category name

i want to add an rss icon/link to one of my categories (the one where the blog is). i would like it to appear with the category name in all the navigation. i’ve looked through the documentation on wordpress feeds and wp_list_categories, and i tried adding the feed image url to category-template.php, but nothing is working. can anyone help me find the information to make this happen? thanks!
