• This week’s hack: I’ve been having ongoing issues with hacking, and I thought that I had everything pretty well locked down…until today.

Somehow, my RSS Feed has been hacked to include a string of the usual links in the middle of my post. The string of links is not found in the html of my original post. How do I get rid of this unwanted intrusion?

Related question? What is the “core” file. I have run the Exploit Scanner plug-in (https://ocaoimh.ie/exploit-scanner/) that identifies potential problems in my https://root/core file.

I’ve gone ahead and deleted the “core” file. No deliterious effects observed. I also found two recently updated files in my wp-content folder – wp-manager.php and cache.php. I’ve deleted both after reading the forums and seeing that these had caused similar problems for others.

Where do these file insertions come from and how do I lock down the blog to prevent this from recurring?
