• So, this is not a question, rather an assertion of how easily i canovercomplicate the essential and already simple.

My thought is that by admitting just how stupid i am, I’ll actuallybe helping people just as stupid, or more so, but who may also have a sense of decency, so they do not admit it, or ask the questions.

    Onward:

I’ve been having a dreary time listing my Podcasts, and rss feeds on various ping sites. This all began when I wanted to get my weekly podcast to show up in aggregators like iPodder for my friends and fans.

Trouble is, no one could do it…

    Not even me.

I read everything I could find on how to post, ping, and write an entry with WordPress to allow the crawlers, and ping sites to pick me up and list the show.

    I was using:
    https://dumbdomain.com/wp-rss2?category=podcast

This was working, at least when i typed that into the browser i could see an rss feed.

But there were a lot of problems, and feeds would become interrupted with the inclusion of a photo, or something which might be misconstrued as an “enclosure.”

Once you blow it, they’re all blown.

meaning that the following entries are not picked up. Crawlers and other automated RSS collection objects get to the error and stop (generally.)

    Here’s the surprise:
Well, wordpress has a lovely feature where you can just call up your RSS feed by looking into

    https://dumbdomain.com/feed/

you can grab comments like this:

    https://dubdomain.com/comments/feed/

and you can categorize easily like this:

    https://dumbdomain.com/category/podcast/feed/

this depends on your permalinks, but that’s how mine work, and so it works.

Now, knowing this, All my feeds function, and everything’s just fine.

I feel pretty stupid for not looking into the documentation earlier. I made the ultimate error of assuming I already knew how to do it… And that WP was messed up, not me.

    Well, it’s me.

Hope this has straighted someone else out too.

    F.
