• This was the email I received from my host. Any ideas what could suddenly cause this to happen?

Your server is being overloaded from:

    amptoons.com/blog/wp-rss2.php

    and amptoons.com/blog/feed (I assume he means wp-feed.php)

I assume both of these are connected to RSS feeds in some way.

This is causing the Hard Drive to consume 100% of its available capacity, and when the disk is maxed out the entire system grinds to a halt.

Can you please investigate your RSS feed setup – and possibly remove any erroneous settings — without these changes your server will not stabalize

    Any help is much appreciated.

Interesting, I’m assuming your hosting provider means that the CPU is under load otherwise it doesn’t really make sense.

If you can get more information like how many hits your site (or rss feeds) is receiving, cpu load etc that would make it more useful.

Personally it sounds like your host is a bit dodgy. I’d personally look at moving. But if you’d like to stay with them there are a few other options:

    1) Setup some form of WordPress caching
    2) Disable and/or delete the rss files if you’re not using them

RSS feeds aren’t normally the main problem in terms of CPU load, usually it is excessive spamming.
