RSS feeds in blog

Ok…. this might sound stupid. But i’m abit lost
How to I display RSS feeds on my blogs?
I’ve heard of feedsonfeed etc etc.
But i’m looking for something simpler.
Say a single PHP file that will parse the RSS feed
And help me with what code to use to include the feed into index.php (my blog) (i’m totally lost with PHP)
I just need say… the 3 most recent entires from the rss feed. Any suggestions?
laughing lizard’s news reader looks good… but I have no idea how to customise it… nor what code to use to put it into my blog.
