RSS feed widget not working

Hi, I am making a new website for a client and he has hosted it on a VPS.

I tried adding a feed (tested it is valid as well) to the footer widget.

When i do that, i just see the rotating circle icon (loading) beside the save button in the RSS widget admin box. And i am unable to save the widget.

Why is this happening
