    Hi,

I’ve been using Seriously Simple Podcasting since September 2023 and I didn’t have much issue with it.

However on Sunday I realized my podcast had disappeared from all platformes (Spotify, Apple Podcast etc.)

I realized it was because there was suddenly a “default podcast” and my podcast, “Upgrade”.

There was a mix between all of them cause this “default podcast” that appeared made it really confusing for me and I had put the same info in both.

So I tried to move all episodes to the Default (since it can’t be deleted), also changed the slug so it can be the right one, and made sure the RSS feed link was exactly the one I put in all the platforms.

Everything seems ok on the paper. But Spotify, Apple Podcast etc. can’t find the info of my podcast.

Spotify says for example it’s missing the email address and the episodes, but all these info ARE in the feed details AND in the podcast settings.

I really don’t understand and I’m a bit exhausted as I’ve been trying to solve this issue for over 16h now (including 11h in a row yesterday).

    Can you please help me?

    Thank you so much!

    Amy

    Hi @onthemove7,

Sorry to hear you encountered this issue. I can see that some of your episodes are assigned to the default podcast, and some of them are assigned to both podcasts, but for some reason, there are no episode items in the feed.

Currently, I can think about 2 possible reasons of it:
    1. Cache – to make sure it’s not a cache, can you slightly change the description, and make sure that the change appears in the feed?
    2. Something is preventing getting episodes in the feed. Did you try temporarily disabling all other plugins one by one? Did you try changing your theme?

Hi Serhiy, thank you so much for your reply!

So I tried clearing the cache and changing details but it didn’t change anything so far.

    Same with plugins.

So I decided to restore the website to 15 days ago, knowing I’ll lose the last podcast episode but it doesn’t matter much, I already had to post it 3 times so once more will not kill me haha.

I’ll see if it changes anything. I hope the setting in Seriously Simple Podcasting will be the same as before I tried to fix them.

I’m a bit bothered that this all happened while I was just trying to make a clear difference between the “default podcast” (that showed up out of nowhere recently it seems) and “Upgrade”. It was all very confusing to me so I wanted to clear things up but it seems like the damage that was done is way worse than the initial confusion ??

I’ll let you know how it went.

    Thank you!

    It worked!!

So now I’m back to the initial situation in which I have a default podcast and Upgrade.

    Issues are :

    • I didn’t see there was a default podcast and turned out I set up both of them exactly the same ??
    • Default podcast’s RSS feed is redirecting the Upgrade’s feed URL
    • Seems like if I edit default podcast, my RSS feed link won’t work anymore
    • But I can’t either delete “Upgrade” cause it will cause the same issue
    • Also I noticed in Upgrade, the box “Mark if this podcast is locked or not. Locked means that any attempt to import this feed into a new platform will be rejected.” was checked… I got no idea if it has anything to do with all the issue

Now I don’t want to get back to the drama, but I would love to have a less confusing environment on Seriously Simple Podcasting (so it can actually be really simple ??).

Any idea how I can manage to have only one podcast without breaking any link?

Once again, thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate it ????

    Hi @onthemove7,

Glad you fixed it. I can see there are 2 podcasts now – default (which you can ignore), and upgrade, which contains all the episodes.

I don’t know why /feed/podcast/default-podcasts redirects to the upgrade feed, it should not (do you use any redirection plugin?). But since you don’t use the default podcast, I believe you can just ignore that issue as well. Just make sure that in Spotify and Apple Podcast, you use the feed/podcast/upgrade feed link.
