    Hi Robin.

    We are using:

    • Paid Memberships Pro with their Mailchimp plugin
    • Buddypress
    • Bbpress
    • The Mailchimp RSS feed is sent to a list that I select in MailChimp so it doesn’t have anything to do with Paid Memberships Pro (same would happen to any list). I have actually subscribed to the RSS feed on my feed reader hence why I discovered the problem.

ok, I don’t know much technically about rss feeds, but the idea of mailchimp is that it sends one email to mailchimp who then emails it to many.

So if you have a mix of public and private group forums and possibly lots of combinations of users with permissions to each, then you would need to maintain a mail list for each combination, and have some way to identify which list any new topic/reply goes to.

Then you would need for each forum to know which maillist to send to.

RSS feeds are not really designed for that degree of complexity, and although it is probably possible to code to do this, it is all a bit beyond my plugin, I’m afraid.

My initial answer would be to turn off the rss feed for forums, topics and replies and let the subscription part of bbpress handle updates.
