• Dear Forum Members,

I am the webmaster of the German WordPress website https://www.kunstplaza.de.

Recently, I have noticed that there are no items in the RSS feed, although there should be some as I am posting new articles on a regular basis.

    The Feed URL is: https://www.kunstplaza.de/feed

As far as I remember, this feed did work in the past. I have tried to deactivate all relevant plugins and themes and tried to retrieve the feed after that. Unfortunately, this did not have an effect.

Does somebody of you have a clue? What could be a potential source of this issue?

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Dear Esmi,

thanks a lot for your response! I have followed all of your suggestions. Here are the results:

    1) Deactivating ALL plugins -> did not solve the issue
2)Switching to the default theme -> did not solve the issue

    3) Resetting the plugins folder -> solved the issue.

After step 3 I tried to reset each plugin folder one by one but could not figure out the troubling plugin. Only when I reset the overall plugins folder, the feed comes back.

Do you have an idea how I can get hold of the one plugin that is causing the issue?

It does sound like you have a bad plugin or, even more likely, a conflict between two plugins. Try checking your site’s error logs for messages. That might help you to identify with plugins aren’t playing nicely together. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

    Dear esmi,

thanks again! In the error log I have found this line quite some times:

[Mon May 19 15:39:38 2014] [error] [client 54.225.84.134] WordPress-Datenbank-Fehler You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ']posts.ID NOT IN ( ) ORDER BY wp_posts.post_date DESC' at line 1 f\xc3\xbcr Abfrage SELECT wp_posts.* FROM wp_posts WHERE 1=1 AND (wp_posts.ID = '296') AND wp_posts.post_type = 'page' AND $wpdb-]posts.ID NOT IN ( ) ORDER BY wp_posts.post_date DESC von require('wp-blog-header.php'), wp, WP-]main, WP-]query_posts, WP_Query-]query, WP_Query-]get_posts, W3_Db-]query, W3_DbCache-]query, W3_DbCallUnderlying-]query, W3_Db-]query, W3_DbProcessor-]query, W3_Db-]default_query

I guess, this is the error that blocks the RSS feed from working in a correct way. It seems as if the W3Cache Plugin is causing this issue.

Do you have an idea of how to solve it?
