  • Hi there! Would you mind providing the name of the RSS feed plugin you were using?

I made a mistake. I mistakenly referred to an RSS feed plugin – I meant to refer to the RSS feed. To clarify, the inbuilt RSS wordpress feed does not work when the Advanced Excerpt plugin is enabled.

Would you be able to describe how it is breaking the RSS feed?

    i.e.

    – Feed doesn’t work at all
    – Formatting on feed is incorrect
    – etc

In the next version of the plugin we will actually provide a method of disabling Advanced Excerpt for certain areas of your website, e.g. disabling specifically for feeds but allowing it run normally for the front page / archives / etc.

    Hi Chris

    I don’t remember the specifics.

I’ll get you a quality answer to your question. It is late here now (Sydney). I’ll hopefully get to it Saturday. I’ll get you a specific error and specific example.

When Advanced Excerpt is active, it produces the following error at the top of the wordpress RSS feed.

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 340 at column 23: Extra content at the end of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

A copy of the RSS feed is provided at the following link (2 files – one with Advanced Except activated and deactivated)

This has been corrected in the latest version of the plugin. There’s now “Disable On” section in the options page that allows you to configure which page types the excerpt filtering will be active on.
