    My RSS feed has stopped working. I checked it in feedvalidator.org and it indicated an error in line 2 which is the line below.

    When i look at the feed, the line has:
    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?><rss version=”2.0″

    The RSS version 2.0 doesn’t have the closing > at the end of the line…
    How do I fix this code line? I’ve looked in feed-rss.php and feed-rss2.php but cannot see where I would fix this.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    That blank line is the problem: https://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=www.thetraininglady.com%2Ffeed

    Line 2 isn’t necessarily the problem, it should just be line 1 instead.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    I have deactivated all plugins and now get the message:

    Sorry

    This feed does not validate.

    line 1, column 1: Blank line before XML declaration [help]

    It shows line 1 is empty, then line 2 is the XML declaration.

    P.S. I also noticed an RSS error in the WordPress Events & News widget on the main WP dashboard page.

    RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    Switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme fixed it and validated the rss feed. I’ll contact my theme developer.
