    Hi,

First, thanks for a great plugin. I’ve been using it for years.

I just noticed recently that my feed only shows the podcast description now and has a link to the website but does not show any of the episodes along with brief description of each episode like it used to. I really liked that feature and I’m hoping I can get that back.

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi there. Yes you’re right it should be displaying the image, title, and description at the top and then the list of episodes below that. Have you recently installed or updated any other plugins or changed your theme? This is often the culprit behind issues like this that we might see.

if you haven’t performed a Plugin and Theme conflict test yet I’d suggest that as a good next step.

let us know how that goes.

Thanks for your reply! I think I figured out the issue. My feed used to be https://chiropracticscience.com/?feed=podcast but now it is https://chiropracticscience.com/feed/podcast on my settings, publishing page as the “complete feed”.

I’m sure I did not change the feed address so I’m not sure how it changed, but everything is working well (e.g., it plays on iTunes, podcast apps etc) and going to https://chiropracticscience.com/feed/podcast does list the description and all the episodes.

However, when I go to https://getrssfeed.com/ it says iTunes has my RSS as https://chiropracticscience.com/?feed=podcast . Is this something to worry about since everything is working well?

Update: So, the podcast plays on iTunes and a few other podcast apps but apps I have not used before do not load any episodes. Help. Not sure what I should do.

Have you run that Plugin/theme conflict test? Here’s an article that walks you through how to do this: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/

I believe there is something in your WP site that is causing an issue with the episodes not appearing in your feed.

And just to confirm, the feed URL should be https://chiropracticscience.com/feed/podcast in all of the platforms where your show has been submitted.

Thanks for the plugin checker link, I will do that. So to change the feed to https://chiropracticscience.com/feed/podcast do I just go to iTunes and the other podcasting apps (e.g. spotify, etc) and change it to this feed and that is it? I’ve read about steps like: HTTP 301 redirect, <itunes:new-feed-url> and others but I really don’t know what to do and don’t want to mess things up. I appreciate your help.

Also, I just checked on iTunes (https://podcastsconnect.apple.com) and it confirms the error with https://chiropracticscience.com/?feed=podcast and that “no episodes exist”. It looks like I could easily change it to the new feed but not sure if the above redirect steps etc are necessary. Also willing to consider consultation fee to help fix this. Thanks.

Hi there. Have you run the plugin/theme conflict test on your site? I feel pretty strongly that there is something there that is creating a conflict and preventing your episodes from being listed in your theme page.

If you haven’t already please try that (turn off all plugins except for SSP and then recheck) and let us know how it goes. that’s the first thing to solve before worrying with updating the feed URL…because both feed URLs are showing the same behavior.

    (@smithdl2)

OK, I turned off all plugins except SSP and it did not seem to affect the behavior but I did notice that after I turned on the plugins again and cleared cache that both feeds only showed the description and no episode details but after about 30 minutes this feed https://chiropracticscience.com/feed/podcast worked with both details and description and seems to continue to work.

One thing to note perhaps is that I upgraded to new hosting on godaddy recently (was with godaddy before also) and the old archived site which is https://z9q.9ce.myftpupload.com/ works for both feeds in terms of description and details.

Update – problem was corrected by reverting to a known good backup. In addition a refresh of the server was necessary after switching hosting plans. iTunes feed is now being recognized as https://chiropracticscience.com/?feed=podcast

So, at this point, should I just leave the current feed as https://chiropracticscience.com/?feed=podcast even though in the publishing section of SSP it says https://chiropracticscience.com/feed/podcast as the RSS feed? If you think a switch is a good idea how would I do it. Thanks in advance.

Great to hear that things are resolved now. Do you know what was different about the backup copy versus what you were running on the live site? Be good to know what might have been causing that issue.

As for the feed URL they’re both the same content so I think it’s fair to just to leave things as they are.

Will mark this as Resolved for now but if you need anything else just let us know.

Thanks! I will begin updating theme, plugins etc and will let you know if I recreate the issue. However, I am thinking at this point it was an error on the GoDaddy side that the refresh of the server fixed.
