RSS Aggregator has gone crazy

Thank you for your assistance in advance.
I have been using this for 20 months without a problem. I normally need to read through 400 stories a day, but I have been sent well over 5,000 in the past 24 hours, some of the stories from 2015. How do I get this back to a manageable number of stories?
A day before, my admin page began running slowly, but I don’t think the two are connected. HostGator tech support is looking into why my CPU usage is so large.
