No plugin is necessary. Get yourself an RSS image (google around), put it in a widget and use the link above. Or you can use the Meta widget, which has that as one of its links.

Last question:) So I just link that url to an image and it will up to the reader to get the RSS on a reader of their choice? is it really that simple? (pun intended)

It is. I use Feedly as my RSS reader: https://cloud.feedly.com and pick up several WP blogs and related sites.
