RS Activity refresh causing heavy load on host

This plugin caused a heavy CPU usage on my hosting account which resulted in them sending me a warning which mentioned that CPU seconds used in the past hour were 2689.31000000002 with 75% CPU. This was unacceptable as Hostgator blocked my site temporarily. After some digging I figured the solution https://83oranges.com/connect/members/umag/activity/177/
