The RoyalMail Click&Drop Woocommerce integration is importing prices incl. VAT and adds these prices then to the customs (CN22) forms. Which is incorrect (it should be net prices).

This has never been an issue as traditionally no VAT was charged on exports but since introduction of the EU IOSS system, for orders below 150€ (excl. VAT and shipping) the merchant has to collect the VAT for the EU country the goods are being shipped to.

By using gross prices in the CN22 form, customers are now getting charged the wrong VAT amounts by customs or exceed the 150€ limit (as the displayed value contains VAT and so may exceed 150€ even though the intrinsic value of the order is below 150€).

Of course that shouldn’t be a Woocommerce issue but RoyalMail in their typical attitude claim their interpretation is correct even though every other parcel service in the UK declares the customs values in the other (correct way).

Why I’m posting it here is because RoyalMail told me if I wanted to change that Woocommerce has to do something about it (i.e. provide net values to Woocommerce). I tried to explain to them that the woocommerce API is providing both net and gross values, but they just fobbed me off and said that’s a Woocommerce issue (even though they seems to be having the same problem with Shopify and other ecommerce integrations based on their own feedback website).

Is there anyone here in contact with the RoyalMail Click&Drop developers who could try to explain it to them bypassing the RM standard customer service team?

  • Hi @cyrix2000

    Thanks for reaching out!

By any chance, are you referring to the premium plugin, Royal Mail here?

If so and you have a valid subscription with us, can you please open a support request for us to investigate further about your issue?

Otherwise, if you’re unsure, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

    Thanks!

Hi, no I’m talking about the standard RoyalMail Click & Drop to Woocommerce interface (it’s not using a plugin but direct API access to Woocommerce).

The plugin you mention is just trying to add RM rates to Woocommerce (but not the business rates, so it’s not really useful to be fair).

    Hi @cyrix2000!

Thank you for the additional details. The only official extension we support for Royal Mail is the one mentioned previously however, that will not add the Click & Drop feature.

You are correct in saying that it is a connection made by Royal Mail using API calls and for that, I’d suggest reaching out to Royal Mail directly. Here is more on that: https://woocommerce.com/document/royal-mail/#click-and-drop

    Thank you!
