RoyalMail Click&Drop and VAT for IOSS on CN22
-
The RoyalMail Click&Drop Woocommerce integration is importing prices incl. VAT and adds these prices then to the customs (CN22) forms. Which is incorrect (it should be net prices).
This has never been an issue as traditionally no VAT was charged on exports but since introduction of the EU IOSS system, for orders below 150€ (excl. VAT and shipping) the merchant has to collect the VAT for the EU country the goods are being shipped to.
By using gross prices in the CN22 form, customers are now getting charged the wrong VAT amounts by customs or exceed the 150€ limit (as the displayed value contains VAT and so may exceed 150€ even though the intrinsic value of the order is below 150€).
Of course that shouldn’t be a Woocommerce issue but RoyalMail in their typical attitude claim their interpretation is correct even though every other parcel service in the UK declares the customs values in the other (correct way).
Why I’m posting it here is because RoyalMail told me if I wanted to change that Woocommerce has to do something about it (i.e. provide net values to Woocommerce). I tried to explain to them that the woocommerce API is providing both net and gross values, but they just fobbed me off and said that’s a Woocommerce issue (even though they seems to be having the same problem with Shopify and other ecommerce integrations based on their own feedback website).
Is there anyone here in contact with the RoyalMail Click&Drop developers who could try to explain it to them bypassing the RM standard customer service team?
