I have been experiencing this problem for quite a while now, and I cannot figure out how to resolve it.

My Wordfence alerts are not coming to me in real time. I routinely receive a flood of old alerts, sometimes weeks old. Sometimes they are mixed in with current alerts. I don’t know why I’m no longer receiving the emails as they happen. I don’t think they are being blocked because I DO eventually get them. No other emails that come to the same address do this — only the Wordfence alerts. I’ve also checked that they are not going to the spam folder. There was a time when I was getting them in real time, but somewhere along the way this flood of old emails started. I can’t say exactly when it started.

Has anyone else experienced this? It’s driving me crazy, because it’s really not very useful to get old alerts from weeks ago. I will never know when something is currently happening! I need to be able to trust that I’m receiving a notice if something is currently happening, and now I don’t have that trust.

    Hi,

Is this also happening with other emails from your WordPress installation?

My guess is that for some reason your server is queuing the emails and holding them (or another intermediate server is doing it) and then sending them as a flood.

I’d strongly recommend you log a support call with your hosting provider to get this resolved.

    Regards,

    Mark.

In case this helps anyone else…

After investigation from my hosting provider, it turns out this is a Google receiving limits problem, as seen at this link:
