• So, I can’t post in other forums here? I guess it’s going in miscellaneous then.

Anyway, I was trying to see if I could create a page and make it route users automatically to it when they visit the main domain (takezer0.com).

I entered “/about/” in the box in one of the options pages in wp-admin. And then all hell broke loose (I really should have been paying more attention to what exactly I was doing). Now it looks like my blog was moved to the about section – or something? I’m not even sure what happened and I can’t get back in to fix it.

I’ll appreciate any and all help. On another forum, someone said I need to log into phpMyAdmin and fix the url somewhere – but I can’t figure out where.

  • Yep. You hosed your blog. Go into PHPMyAdmin from within your web host’s control panel. You should see an options table and the path to WordPress. You should see where you put /about/ there. Delete it.

You should be able to get back into WP. And what you want to do can be done. You just needed to take a deep breath and think a minute before fiddling with settings about which you know not. (But you do now!)

First, be sure permalinks are turned on. Then create your About page. Make sure that the page slug says about.

You really should bite the bullet and upgrade to WP 2.5.1. If you did that, and your WP install is in the site root, you can just tell WP to make that About page your front page. Otherwise, you’ll have to redirect your domain to it.

Thanks for the quick reply! (I was pretty much going out of it)

That’s what the main page looks like. I clicked on “wp-options” like you said and it took me here:

Not quite sure where /about/ is or what I’m supposed to do to delete it.

    . . .

Also yes, after I fix this, I think the first thing I’m going to do it upgrade to 2.5.1 ??

    Thanks again!

    Actually, nevermind. I fixed it!

I clicked on “browse” at the top and edited the one that said, “siteurl”

    THANK YOU ??

Yep! Now go forth and upgrade!
