    Hello,
After porting over from fully redesigned testing website to another testing environment. I’ve noticed the Roots Theme is not displaying with the newly contents which were ported over.
Does anyone know what i would need to do to activate roots to enable contents and images to be displayed correctly ?

    Hello esmi,
    Yes,
    1) dump the testing DB out to a file & make changes to the db file on urls
    2) compress wp-content & make edits to wp-config

The weird thing was that all of the contents are there but when i clicked on the link in the “Home” page, it gave me a 404 error “page not found”. The CSS and roots theme never seem to be activated yet its activated inside wordpress. This is why this is baffling me.

The header and footer of the roots theme and none of the images are showing up.

What happens when you use the 2013 theme?

    esmi,
i just switched to 2013 theme, the “HOME” page showed up with images working properly. The links on that home page are all broken, returned 404 as well. I can see the tree structure on all the pages inside dashboard and when i click on each page to make edits. the contents are viewable in the editor but the links on home page don’t appeared to function on my little testing environment nor Roots theme appeared to function.

I had also tried using a tool called “Duplicator” plugin. after packaging the entire site from testing and imported into my small environment, Same result.

Home page showed up without roots theme and from looking with firefox’s firebug, there doesn’t appeared to be any css nor themes associated with the site. very odd. Perhaps, i missed a step somewhere, but i don’t know what step(s) i may have missed. Any hints on this will be very helpful.

The links on that home page are all broken

    Try re-saving your permalinks.

on the “Permalink Settings” page, i clicked on “Post name” again then save changes. On the website, the links on the “Home” page remained to be broken. I also checked to see if the production and the testing environment have the same configuration. They both have the same “Post name” selected.

this is the site i need to clone/copy into a testing environment
    https://jhepptest.library.jhu.edu/wordpress/

This is the current production site running:
    https://dmp.data.jhu.edu/

What happens if you use the default permalink structure?

WOW, I am impressed !!! The link works Finally.
Still no roots theme nor css, it would be nice to get this to work too. ??

Check the urls in the source of generated pages when trying to use Roots – especially the urls for the stylesheet. That should give you some clues as to where the issue is.

    Hello esmi,
i am surprised that this worked even this testing environment has different urls than the other two environments. I have another question.

i am not sure where to go from this point.

Do you mean looking into the filesystem location on the following items ?

“Check the urls in the source of generated pages when trying to use Roots – especially the urls for the stylesheet.”

    /var/www/wordpress/wp-content ? or some other paths ?

    esmi,
no worries, the .htaccess screwed it up. there needs to be parameters which needed to be inserted into this .htaccess file which i didn’t know about. Many Thanks.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted. ??
