I am using SportsPress and the Rookie theme. I would like to add some texture to the menu bars. I should be able to do this by adding a custom style to .main-navigation and setting the background-image to a png overlay. I put this in my own custom style sheet as part of my child theme (where I put other customizations, including some style bug fixes/work-arounds you have helped me with).

However, it appears that because the rookie theme uses “background” instead of “background-color” it overrides all other background attributes, including the background-image I add in.

Would it make sense to have your rookie theme use background-color instead? Or add the ability to set a background-image in the theme customization?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi!

    Thanks for getting in touch!

First of all, congrats on using a child theme, that’s really important, and more often than not people forget about it ??

As for your customization, maybe we can help you on that. Would you mind pasting the link to your website here, so we can check it out?

    Kind Regards,

I’m just following up to see if you have any advice on this, or if you plan to change the Rookie theme to use the more specific CSS style so other parts of the background style can be overridden (or allow us to add custom CSS inside the rookie theme that gets loaded last?

    Thanks!
