    Hi

    I never got a call to update to 4.6.0, until today when I was called to update to 4.6.1, so I did.

    I went back almost instantly since ALL my download numbers where slashed down significantly. My simple solution was to roll back.

    I appreciate your intention of improving the stats system, make sense what I read in other threads, but do it without breaking anything, please.

    I will be monitoring this thread (and others) to see when you are ready.

    I tried in my local install and it is working fine!

    The third step was scary, when I saw everything in zero!
    The fourth step returned the numbers…

    Does this means that I will have to enable the filter for good ?

    Next, I am missing the possibility of altering (changing) the count number directly, this is not going to be possible any longer ?

    You just hit upon the problem. The “Backward Compatibility” fix options only retrieve the data we had already entered before 4.7.

    Now, we can make it still show those downloads, but, essentially, they’re saying that we won’t ever be able to use the feature to add to the count. They took that ability away entirely.

    Hey @caban13 ,

    Yes, some things might get scary, but don’t worry as we did not delete anything in the upgrade process, everything you had before is still there.

    Regarding the filter, yes, you need to keep the filter there in your child theme’s functions.php so that the download count to show the Download’s count from the meta combine with the new count and logging system.

    Regarding the possibility to alter the download count directly, from version 4.6.0 and upwards that functionality has been removed in order to make more reliable, precise and enhanced Reports.
