    Many thanks ejb5oh, I downloaded your zip file and restored the ability to log in to my own site.

    I’m in complete agreement with you about iTheme’s inept update but as for “excellence restored” I’m not so sure. What is certain is that they’ve lost a lot of friends with this fiasco.

    Thanks for helping me recover “the experience”

    Since I can’t really delete the plugin for using it to secure my site via two very critical changes to my WP installation, I will simply wait for Ithemes to catch up and clean their mess, if and when they bother to do so.

    Guys, not sure what issue you had with the plugin. But it may be solved with a reset to make sure old settings are gone. Please see my instructions in this thread.

    Big thank you to ejb5oh for the rollback advice.
    Awesome.
    I was logged out after upgrading to the latest version of ithemes security, and then re-applying the hide background as advised.
    This unabled me even to find the login screen, as it came back as a 404 error.
    I removed the plugin via ftp, and re-installed version 3.6.6 and hey presto, I was able to log back in again.

    I was on the phone and emailing all day, trying to figure out how to resolve this issue. Then I found you and it was fixed less then 5 minutes.
