Has anyone done a rollback on the Woocommerce from 7.9.0 back to 7.8.0 when all the errors relating to New Attribute Failed and all the 503 errors started.?

I am getting sick of everything and wondered if I did this, am I going to create more errors than what I already have. Have posted new topic as suggested regarding the errors, but keen to know about doing a Rollback if I can. Thanks in advance

  • I’ve rollback to 7.8.2 too and came here from answers. 7.9.0 broke my site.

thanks, have you had any issues since you did the rollback ? We are a non profit organisation and have no it specialist, just us to maintain the site. Would appreciate your answer in relation to if the problems have ceased since the rollback and if you have since experienced any problems.

I tried rolling back to 7.8.0 tonight, however, the database is unable to be rolled back without hassle and on a site that has orders coming through all times of the day/night it just isn’t viable unfortunately. Needless to say, simply rolling back the version did not help the issue for me so it’s definitely in the database itself.

    Hi there @gsqwebcoorindator ??

Thank you for contacting Woo support!

We are a non profit organisation and have no it specialist, just us to maintain the site. Would appreciate your answer in relation to if the problems have ceased since the rollback and if you have since experienced any problems.

Thank you for your patience! We are experiencing an unusually high volume of support requests at the moment, and that has affected our response times.

As I understand, some frustrating issues arose after recent updates took place at your site, there is no IT specialist currently available at your team, and you’re reaching out to the community for some knowledge crowdsourcing. I totally get how this might feel.

Have you considered Jetpack Backups? Even if you have backups through your host, they are often laborious and technically complex to restore, so we built a one-click option that does it for you. Of specific value to WooCommerce store owners is the ability to restore your site to any past state while keeping all orders and products current.

Furthermore, feel free to check out this link for the official instructions on reverting to a previous version of WooCommerce.

Also, we’d like to take a look at your site’s System Status Report (SSR) on a separate thread, since each store’s setup is unique..

    Tools to help with troubleshooting

Meks Quick Plugin Disabler will remember what plugins you had active when you switch it back on.

You can clone your site to a staging environment and perform tests without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Hi Thank you for your reply and sorry it has taken me time to get back. Site almost crashed completely last week and I needed to spend time trying to get full backup done correctly etc etc and testing out various suggestions.

In the end I have taken the plunge and rollback WooCommerce to 7.7.2 without any issues.

I went to this Version as I knew it was all working at that stage. I now have NO 503 errors; NO Failed attribute errors and best of all NO WAIT WAIT WAIT until everything times out when just wanting to move to the next step of processing anything. It took me 4 hours to process 17 orders/tickets, of which normally would take 5/10mins to do.

Site is now up and running again with no issues, and not so slow anymore.

I have sent details to WooCommerce on another thread but it is now 7.7.2 and not 7.9.0

Thanks to everyone who has posted this problem, I have learnt alot from reading and being part of the WordPress forums.

    Regards

    Hello @gsqwebcoorindator,

Glad to hear there’s some progress! ??

Just wanted to let you know that you’re not the only one experiencing this issue. Our team is currently investigating the problem as it appears to affect several other merchants. You can refer to this report for more context: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/39377

According to this comment, increasing a few server variables seemed to resolve the issue. If you wish to try this solution, you can share the link with your hosting provider and request them to make the necessary changes, then try updating again.

To ensure that your site remains operational during this process, you can update on a staging environment first, then push to your live site. If your hosting provider doesn’t offer a staging solution, you can use a plugin like WP-Stage.

Let us know if you have any other questions. :?)

@gsqwebcoorindator, sorry I didn’t see your comments until now. I did rollback and everything works well as normal. Now, I am on the lastest and it’s all good. I was a little worried went I did the update. I backup everything then update and all good.

    Howdy @imtino

I’m glad to hear that! Thank you for verifying that WooCommerce version 8.0.1 (from what I gather) is running as expected.

Just to note, WooCommerce version 8.0.2 (linked here) is the latest available currently.

I’ll go ahead with cc’ing @gsqwebcoorindator here also, in case they missed your message.

    Have a wonderful day!

Thank you all for letting me know that the latest version is working well with no errors. Not always easy to find those little bugs that can get in and upset some computers systems and not others.

At this stage I am staying with 7.7.2, as have submitted a recommendation to our Committee to upgrade our hosting plan. They are in the process of getting that arranged. So will wait until we have a lot more resources as I feel after talking with everyone on this group – thank you all- that we really need more resources to work with compared to what we have. Basically just outgrown our needs of years ago.

Again thank you all and I will close off this thread as I am sure that everything will work well now.

    Regards

It’s great to hear that you’ve found a temporary solution by rolling back to WooCommerce version 7.7.2 and that it’s working well for your site. Upgrading your hosting plan is indeed a good idea as it can provide more resources and potentially solve some of the issues you were experiencing.

If you decide to update WooCommerce in the future, I would recommend doing so in a staging environment first, to ensure there are no conflicts or issues. This will allow you to test the update without affecting your live site.

Remember, before doing any major changes or updates, it’s always a good idea to make a full backup of your site. This way, you can easily restore your site to its previous state if needed.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. However, if you ever have more questions or issues in the future, don’t hesitate to kick off a new topic.

Hope you have a fantastic day!
