• Hello all,

I’ve developed a WP site for a client and wish to run it as a CMS so that the client can log on and add / edit / delete pages etc. Obviously I don’t want the client to be able to change any of the vital setting and therefore want to exclude hin from being able to view certain admin menus such as ‘Appearance’ -> ‘Change Themes’ or ‘Widgets’ etc.

In order to do this I’ve created a New User for my client called ‘newuser’ and given him type ‘Editor’ with his own username and password.

I have downloaded and tried a number of plugins that ‘hide’ certain menu items BUT… here’s the tricky bit… I need to keep the Appearance option OPEN for user type ‘Editor’ to show the ‘Menus’ menu so that the client can create a page then add that page to the menus. BUT NONE of the plugins work like that because the Role ‘Editor’ is automatically excluded from seeing the Appearance menu and therefore the ‘Menus’ option under Appearance (Phew! i hope that made sense…)

No matter what I do I cannot get any of the plugins (such as Adminimize) to show the Appearance -> Menus option as there must be something hardcoded into WP to stop this!

    Any ideas from anyone?

    Cheers,

    N

  • You can change the rigths of a rolle via code or use the plugin “Members”. After this you can customize the admin-area via “Adminimize” to reduce only for areas, she use the client.
